Shop Prom 2010

Okay. I am going to a friend’s (of the bride) wedding on June 14th @ 2pm in the afternoon. The ceremony is going to last about 2 and a half hours and then afterwards the reception in the late afternoon to early evening hours. I am having a hard time trying to figure out the type of dress to wear. I don’t want to go too formal, but I don’t want to go too casual either..The bride is what I would consider "high-maintenance" and I have a feeling her wedding is going to be kind of like a red carpet-ish affair..I know I am not going to dress like I am going to the Oscars because that is a little over the top, but I want to look good..I keep reading that the time of the day that the wedding is taking place is also a factor on what to wear..

Any suggestions are much appreciated..
I agree that I am probably overthinking it. I think its because I do not get dressed up very often. Yeah I wear make-up and usually dress very well and look put together on an everyday basis, but when it comes to special occasions such as this, I draw a blank.

I think you’re overthinking it. As long as you’re wearing a dress and look put together I’m sure you’ll be fine. I would go with a knee length dress. You could go with something that has a summery pattern or go with a simple, sexy black dress. That always a classic.

A knee or tea-length (to your shins) dress, tank-style or straps, in a nice print is probably your best option. Black with white prints is always a good color choice, since it’ll transition from day to night really well. Wear heeled sandals and some simple stylish jewelry to jazz it up enough for evening.
